(Evansdale, IA) — Two Iowa families are marking a sad anniversary this week. Thursday was the 11th anniversary of the day when cousins Lyric Cook-Morrisey and Elizabeth Collins were reported missing in Evansdale. The ten-year-old and nine-year-old girls had gone for a bike ride in 2012 and never returned. Search crews looked for them for weeks to no avail. Five months after their disappearance, their bodies were discovered in a wildlife area in Bremer County. Authorities ultimately believe the girls were abducted and murdered but no arrests have been made in the case. An annual memorial ride in remembrance of the girls will take place tomorrow.
