(Ida County) One person died, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ida County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 7:30 a.m., Friday on L51 near 297th Street. Authorities say 59-year-old Russell Mefford of Denison died in the crash. Colton Claussen, 33, of Schleswig was injured.
According to the report, a northbound 2013 Dodge pickup driven by Claussen crossed the centerline and collided with a 1999 Pontiac Sedan driven by Mefford. The pickup rolled, landed on its’ wheels, and came to rest facing south in the west ditch of L51. The Pontiac Sedan spun and came to rest facing north in the west ditch of L51.
Ida County EMS transported Claussen to Horn Memorial Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
