(Area) Areas of moderate to heavy precipitation brought some improvement, keeping most of the Midwest Climate Region free of dryness and drought. Alexis Jimenez from the National Weather Service in Des Moines says there are minor improvements in this week’s Drought Monitor.
According to the drought monitor, Jimenez says there is a stretch of abnormally dry conditions branching from central to portions of the state’s southwest region and moderate drought in portions of western Iowa, but less extreme compared to last fall.
