(Lewis) Two people suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident near Lewis on Thursday afternoon.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at 12:45 p.m. near Highway 6 and Lansing Road. Authorities say, Jack Tye, the driver, and his passenger, Donna Tye, both from Griswold, were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the report, a 1996 Buick Century driven by Jack Tye of Griswold was traveling South on Highway 6. A witness had passed Tye’s vehicle and shortly after, in their rearview mirror, observed Tye’s car drift out of its lane to the left, crossing the other lane and entering the ditch. Tyes’ vehicle continued through the ditch into an adjacent field. This vehicle then backed into the ditch, where it rested. Upon the first responders’ arrival, Jack and Donna Tye were still in the vehicle. First responders helped them out of the car.
The vehicle sustained an approximated $5,000 of damage.
