(Des Moines) The proposal limiting what information the state auditor can access can be signed into law by Governor Reynolds. The Iowa Senate passed the proposal yesterday. If signed into law, the state auditor would need approval from a three-member panel to take a state agency to court. The state auditor, the department being audited, and the governor would each have an appointee on the panel. State Auditor Rob Sand calls the proposal a political move, asking how he can find fraud if he needs permission from the auditee to access their information.
