(Griswold) The Tax Levy Rate for Griswold School District patrons is $12.94 per thousand dollars of valuation.
According to Superintendent Dave Heinrichs the figure is eleven cents lower than last year. “It is the lowest. Another important piece is that it will include a surplus levy which is actually an advance payment of our GO Bond which was approved in 2017 to build our new elementary building.”
Heinrichs says in the FY24 budget allows for an advanced payment toward the elementary addition of $170,000. “In doing so it will save our tax payers $61,200 in interest. This will be the third year in a row in which we’ve made an advanced payment. When we combine those three years together we’ve payed in advance $450,000 and that will save our taxpayers a total of $162,000 in interest. I think those are all good things.”
In personnel moves, resignations include Kelsey Schuler (Elementary Para-Educator), Tafi Brown (Cook), and Aaron Houser (Middle School Girls Basketball).
New hires are Taylor Lary (Elementary Special Education Para-Educator), Scott Robinson (Summer Custodian), Mallorie Wookey (Preschool Teacher), Maggie Nordmeyer (Elementary Teacher), Eric Baker (Technology Coordinator), and Aaron Houser (Volunteer Basketball Coach).
