(Audubon) Progress continues on the renovation project the Audubon Middle and High School Building.
Superintendent Eric Trager says they are headed towards the final summer of work. “We are fairly confident at this point, we calculated a 5% contingency on the entire project, which is a low contingency to begin with. Typically on design, bid, build projects you’ll see contingencies of 10% and 15%. We went with 5%. We really feel fairly confident we’ll come in at 5% or below it. If we do get surprised and go over it’ll sill be 6-7% that is going to cover it.”
Trager thanks all parties involved for their patience. “It’s been quite a year in terms of working together with contractors and teachers to accommodate the construction while we are trying to accommodate instruction. I can’t say enough good about both our contractors and our teach staff and kids for working together and tolerate what is going on with a minimum amount of disruption.” Trager admits it has been a challenging year and they’ll be glad next year when everything is behind them.
In other school news, a bid for $52,500 was approved for re-surfacing the track. It came in well under the $70,000 they had budgeted for it. The School Board approved a few resignations this week and the district has openings for a PE Teacher and Counselor at the Elementary Building.
