(Elk Horn) The Exira-EHK girls track team has six members.
Coach Cory Bartz breaks down the roster. “Ella Petersen is going to be our only senior. She’s going to do some middle distance running for us and then maybe high jump here or there. We’ll see how that pans out. We have Gemini Goodwin as a junior. She’s going to do 200’s and 400’s and lead the way for us in that area. We have a few sophomores with Gracie Bartz, Ruby Vanderwal, and Harlee Fahn. Harlan Fahn is in her first year and she’s going to do some throwing for us and run on relays. Ruby is going to be more of a distance runner. Gracie is going to be mid-distance and maybe some 400 hurdles. We have Jaelynn Petersen out as a freshman and she’s going to do some high jumping, hurdling, and hopefully some 400’s.”
The team has good chemistry. “They just get along. Last year we continued to improve our times throughout the entire season which was fun to see. They are happy to try to continue that trend and keep improving. Maybe work on finishing through some pain this year and definitely work on some confidence, I think that would also help us. They work well together and push each other.”
Exira-EHK is scheduled to compete in a meet March 28th at Audubon.
