(Atlantic) Bob Camblin, City of Atlantic Housing Committee Chairman, presented an update to the Atlantic City Council Wednesday evening.
Camblin said housing in a nutshell: the glass is half full. He thanked the City Council for purchasing the 40 acres for the Prairie Hills Subdivision and approving phase one of the final plat.
Camblin also provided the Council with some suggested goals for the City.
“Two dilapidated house each year by the city, four flips each year by private developers, two infills each year by the City and two infills per year by private builders, and 12 new houses under construction each year.”
Camblin suggested the City set up a community development fund and a revolving credit fun for the purpose of accomplishing these goals. He also suggested hiring a Housing Director.
“We just feel that to continue to enjoy the quality of life that we’ve got in Atlantic we need population and to facilitate the opportunity to have more population, we need housing.”
Camblin wanted to promote Marty and Connie Boose for their housing development and also the SWIPCO programs to get more people interested in fixing up their houses.
