Atlantic Summary
Braxton Hass gave up some late back points and lost his first round match at 106 pounds by a 5-3 decision.
At 113, 6th rated Aiden Smith had a first round bye and pinned his second round opponent. Smith won by fall in against Carroll’s Dreylen Schweitzer. The sophomore will face #9 (39-3) Mack Morgan, of Eagle Grove, Thursday afternoon for a spot in the semi’s.
Easton O’Brien went 1-1 on the first day. The senior at 138 won by fall in the first round. He dropped his second round match by a 9-2 decision to #9 Austin Evans, of Creston.
At 170 it was Jarrett Armstong dropping his first round match by fall. He’ll wrestle Thursday afternoon in the consolation second round.
Brenden Casey notched a 4-2 win at 182 in the first round. It earned him a meeting with #1 (52-0) CJ Walrath, of West Burlington/Notre Dame. Casey lost by fall in 2:29.
8th rated heavyweight Evan Sorensen fought off his back to win by fall in the first round. He matched up against #7 Gene Blalock, of Grinnell, in round two. Sorensen lost a back and forth match to Blalock by an 11-6 decision.
Creston has four wrestlers in the quarterfinals with Christian Ahrens, Austin Evans, William Bolinger, and Kaden Street.
Glenwood has four on the front side of the bracket with Vinny Mayberry, Matt Beem, CJ Carter, and Mason Koehler.
