(Anita) The CAM Cougars will have six wrestlers in the field on Saturday at Riverside. The top two individuals in each weight class will advance to state.
Coach Derek Knisely feels very confident in the chances of Brian South and Owen Hoover to qualify. “Brian South should be ranked #1 and making it on to state at 160 and same thing with Owen Hoover at 170.”
Coach Knisely breaks down the rest of the crew, “Tristan Becker at 126 has a shot of going to state. He’s going to have to do a few upsets to get there, but he’s a very capable wrestler. Our next wrestler is Kegan Croghan at 132. I believe he is going to be seeded 2nd. He’s got a real good chance of making it to state this year. He was out for the last two weeks, so as long as he shows up on Saturday he’s got a good chance. Then we have Brayden Chester at 138. He’s a little green, but if he puts things together he’ll also have a good shot at going. Gabe Rouse at 152, it’s been about three years since he’s wrestled. He’s shown a lot of promise this season. We’re hoping to get him to state.”
Wrestling starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Other teams at Riverside include Bedford, East Mills, Griswold, St. Albert, SW Valley, Treynor, Tri-Center, Underwood, and Riverside.
