(Stanton) The Montgomery County City of Stanton has been known for its two water towers, painted, and formed like a coffee pot and coffee cup in honor of actress Virginia Christine, best known as “Mrs. Olsen,” in the well-known Folgers coffee commercials. This progressive town of under 1,000 residents will soon add to its’ reputation when the Stanton Technology Park is completed.
Stanton Community Development Director Jenna Ramsey says the goal is to complete the construction of the new daycare and the Greenbelt walking and biking trail expanded through the Technology Park.
The Stanton Area Industrial Foundation owns the 22-acre property currently being developed.
Ramsey says they call it the Stanton Area Industrial Park for its fiber optic connectivity.
Ramsey says the Industrial Technology Park is located directly to three Point of Presence locations on the Aureon statewide fiber optic network. FMTC also partners with Midwest Fiber Network to provide a 200-gigabyte redundancy ethernet transport network connected to Aureon.
Meanwhile, the Stanton Child Resource Center will be going out for bid this month. The projected cost of developing the daycare is three-point-two-million dollars. Ramsey says fundraising continues, with just under one million dollars needed to reach their goal.
