Judy Rhea Alff of Anita, Iowa passed away February 6, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic at the age of 73. Judy was born at home on April 17, 1949, the daughter of Bill and Lena Mae (Masching) Metheny. She was raised on a farm north of Anita in Audubon County, one of eight kids. She was a twin and together they were the second oldest of the eight children.
Once Judy graduated from Exira High School she went to work at the hospital in Atlantic. In 1970, she met and married Bruce Alff, the couple were married for 52 years. After working at the hospital, she began as a Med Aid at the Anita Nursing Home, until her retirement. After she retired, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren on the farm and seeing what trouble they could get into together. Judy was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan who never missed a game and would enjoy watching them while eating a bowl of popcorn in her chair.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lena Metheny; twin sister, Mary Jane Kline; brothers, Stanley Metheny and Shelldon Metheny; brother-in-law, Ronald Kline; sister-in-law, Nancy Farley; and mother and father-in-law, Harriet and Henry Alff.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Alff of Anita; children, Janice (Shawn) Worline, Jason (Nikki) Alff, and Jarad Alff all of Anita; grandchildren, Ashley DeBates, Shelby Alff, Joshua DeBates, Conner Alff and Kylie Alff; siblings, Sam (Linda) Metheny of Dubuque, Sandy (Steve) Paulsen of Anita, Steve Metheny of Anita and Cathie Alff of Anita; sister-in-law Connie (Steve) Riesselmann of Vail; and brother-in-law, Howard (Marie) Alff of Anita.
Pallbearers will be Conner Alff, Joshua DeBates, Scott Alff, Austin Alff, Lee Byrd and John Byrd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Pollock, David Dennis, Robbie Metheny, Rylie Metheny, Joe Farley, and Lee Ray Opbroek (Opey).
The Flower Committee will be Shelby Alff, Ashley DeBates, and Kylie Alff.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. A private family graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
