(Griswold) The Iowa House Education Committee last week passed House File 11 with an amendment.
House File 11 is the “Student Right to Know” bill that requires the Board of Regents to publish a report that includes information on income, debt and post-graduate decree completion that is searchable by major, institution, and class. It also provides that students at the Regent Institution must take part in career planning.
Iowa House District 18 Representative Tom Moore, of Griswold, said House File 12 and House File 41 also passed, although he was a no vote on both.
House File 41 discusses open enrollment transportation and would allow school buses from the receiving district to enter in the district of residence without both districts having to agree. Moore said he was a no vote on this bill because he believes that every dollar they spend on transportation is a dollar that comes out of the classroom and they need to reduce transportation costs as much as possible.
