(Atlantic) Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken told the Board of Supervisors this morning that bridge #289 over the East Nishnabotna River on West 6th Street in Atlantic could possibly open by the end of the day today. The bridge closed in early October for substructure repairs. This was a joint project between Cass County and the City of Atlantic.
The culvert on Fairview Road has been backfilled and should open next week.
Wolken said he got quotes to erect beams for bridge #123 and A.M. Cohron was the low bidder. This bridge on Pella Road suffered a partial structural collapse under the weight of a crane in September.
In other news from the Supervisors meeting this morning, the Board approved the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Urban Renewal Report. The board approved hiring Tamara DeVall as Auditor’s Clerk at $18.00 per hour with a $1.00 increase at 90 days following a positive performance evaluation and a $1.00 raise at six months following a second positive performance evaluation. DeVall will begin work the first week of January. The Board also received a presentation from Group Benefit Partners on 2023 insurance renewal options.
