(Audubon) Audubon’s crack down on dogs at large is set to go into effect on Friday.
The Third Reading of Ordinance 763 Vicious Dog Amendment was approved on Monday night by the City Council. “We are just trying to stiffen up our code a little bit more to hopefully curb some of that issue.”
City Clerk Joe Foran explains in the past, pet owners were allowed to pick up their dogs from the vet after paying a fine. Now the ordinance is much stricter. “More of a three strikes and you’re out kind of things. We are not going to let you have an animal in town if you can’t take care of them.”
Elsewhere, Foran says the council denied vacating a portion of Third Avenue from Grandview Drive northward. The denial followed a recommendation from the planning and zoning commission which doesn’t want to close what could become an entrance and exit for a future housing development area.
