(Atlantic) The Atlantic High School recognized those who have served, or are currently serving in our armed forces.
Charlotte Saluk is Vice President of the Atlantic Student Council..
The guest speaker was Jonathan Stockhaus. Stockhaus was a nuclear weapons technician in the United States Airforce for six years. He served three years in the Ohio Air Guard and is now currently serving in the Iowa Air National Guard.
Stockhaus read two letters written for former Navy Seals from the recent War on Global Terrorism. The first was written by Navy Seal Andy Stumpf, a 17-year veteran of the Seals who wrote the letter upon receiving news that his brother in arms was killed during a mission in Africa. It is titled, “A Debt That Cannot Be Repaid”.
Next was a poem called Fallen Solider…
Veterans Day, held every year on November 11th, honors America’s veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
