(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors received an Opioid Funding Request for officer training at their meeting Tuesday morning.
Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue said he would like to host the training in Atlantic in March for area law enforcement. He said the training encompasses tools and strategies for combatting inherent stress and traumatic events that come with the profession.
Hogue said this training is aimed at how they identify issues not only on the street, but inside their office.
The total cost for the program would be around $6,500. The Supervisors said they will take action on the funding request at their November 9th meeting.
In other news, Zoning Administrator Rich Hansen informed the Supervisors that McCunn Specialty Firearms in Massena is requesting a zoning change from Business to Light Industrial.
Hansen said letters are going out to nearby landowners regarding the zoning change; they will have a public hearing; and then the Supervisors will give their final approval/denial for the zoning change.
The Supervisors also received the libraries funding requests for the next fiscal year. The Atlantic Public Library is requesting an additional $5,000 in funding; Anita and Griswold are requesting an additional $2,500; and Cumberland, Lewis and Massena are requesting an additional $1,000 in funding.
