(Washington D.C.) The USDA Crop Progress Report released on Monday afternoon shows farmers wrapping up the soybean harvest, and over half of the nation’s corn crop is harvested.
According to the report, 80 percent of the nation’s soybeans have been harvested as of Sunday, October 24; this is up 17 percent from last week, and nine-percent ahead of last year, and 13 percentage points ahead of the five-year average of 67%.
The nation’s corn farmers moved ahead at a good clip last week, with 61 percent of the corn harvested as of Sunday, up 16 percent from the previous week. This report shows the corn harvest is now three percent behind last year but nine percent ahead of the five-year average.
