(Des Moines) Button-down the hatch’s high winds could be an issue in southwest Iowa today.
The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for southwest and west central Iowa today from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Monday.
Forecasters are calling for gusty winds of 25-to-30 and as high as 50 miles per hour today and early tomorrow morning.
Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.
The period of strongest winds will transition from southwest Iowa this afternoon into central and northern Iowa this evening. Strong winds and dry conditions will enhance fire danger, especially west of Highway169.
