(Atlantic) Cass County Emergency Management continues to move forward with integrating the new state-of-the-art digital communications platform. In the summer of 2019, the County started a measured approach to upgrading its communication capabilities with the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System.
The county is installing equipment on the 22nd Street Water Tower, the city’s highest point. Cass County Emergency Management Director Mike Kennon says This will significantly improve the range for the City of Atlantic because of topography issues.
Kennon says Motorola has been supplying the equipment for this project for the past several months.
Currently, the Communication capabilities within the County are much improved, with all of the county’s Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies, and the County Dispatch Center having enhanced communication capabilities.
As a member of the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System allows the ability to communicate with a law enforcement Officer anywhere in the state.
