Michael Vernon Marshall, the son of Wayne and Shirley (Marxen) McFadden, was born June 23, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa and died October 2, 2022, surrounded by his at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa under hospice care at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 9 days.
Michael attended the Atlantic Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1972. He then worked for several construction companies in the Atlantic area for a few years. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and worked construction for a number of years then returned to Atlantic, Iowa. American Building had just opened and Michael was employed by them until they closed their doors over 17 years later. Michael then attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa and received a Civil Engineering Degree. He worked as a project estimator for several companies before he was employed by Midwest Steel. He traveled to many different states designing and building special projects until he retired in 2021. Michael always had a passion for trains and during retirement he enjoyed “Chasing” trains with his youngest son Sean and spending quality time with his family.
Michael enjoyed discussing religion and conspiracy theories. He was always ready to help friends and strangers in need. He loved oriental food and could never pass up a Hibachi Buffet.
Preceding him in death was a grandson, Kevin Marshall; his father Wayne McFadden; and his niece Boni Le Kinnison.
Survivors include his children Jebidiah and wife Tanya Marshall of Brayton, Iowa, Kelly Marshall of Brayton, Meradith Marshall of Wewoka, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Sarah Marshall of Exira, Iowa, Jessi Marshall of Brayton, Morgaane and Hunter Logan both of Wewoka, and Allison Lung of Stuart, Iowa; his mother Shirley McFadden of Atlantic, Iowa; his brothers and sisters Denise and husband Keith Kinnison of Iowa City, Iowa, Oliver and wife Diane McFadden of Cumberland, Iowa, John McFadden, Lisa and husband Todd Friesleben and Erin McFadden all of Atlantic, Iowa, Vilora and husband Michael Walker of Mesa, Arizona, and Ron Marshall, Seth Marshall, and Jerica Marshall all of Wyoming, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering at the Brayton Town Hall on Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. for food and fellowship with Michael’s family. The cremains will be inurned at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa at a later date. The family prefers memorial directed to the family. The Kessler Funeral Home in Exira is in charge of arrangements.
