(Atlantic) “Fire will not wait; plan your Escape” is the theme for this year’s fire prevention week, October 9 through the 15th. The Atlantic Fire Department is hosting its’ annual donation breakfast on Sunday, October 2, at the Fire Station from 7:00 a.m. to noon.
Atlantic Fireman Jake Vetter says the parade will be held on October 8 in downtown Atlantic. The lineup starts at 4:00 p.m., at 3rd and Olive Street. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. featuring drill teams, local floats, and area fire departments. Prizes are given to the best fire prevention-themed float, most fire department trucks, and the furthest department.
Vetter says the theme “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape” reminds families and businesses to have a plan in the case of a fire.
The Atlantic Fire Department consists of 38 members, most of whom are volunteers.
