(Atlantic) Atlantic extended their Hawkeye Ten Conference record to 5-3 with a 3-0 win over Denison –Schleswig on Thursday at Atlantic. The Trojans never trailed in any set and won by the scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-15.
“Everybody contributed; it was not just one person,” said Atlantic Head Coach Michelle Blake. “Jada does not do what she can do if Lexi does not get the set, and Ava, Aubrey, and Abbi do not deal out the passes.
“Jada had a great night; it was sparked by Aubrey playing great on the outside; Chloe getting hits in the middle gave us some good looks,” said Blake. “We exploited some weakness in their blocks which was huge for us. It was a good team effort.”
The Trojans scored six straight points in the first set to close out the 25-15 win.
The Monarchs pressed the home team in the second set, overcame a 21-13 deficit, and pulled within two points, 24-22, before the Trojans closed it out 25-22.
The Trojans broke away from a 6-5 lead scoring five straight, led 11-5, raced out to a 21-10 lead, and closed out the set 25-15.
Atlantic faces Harlan on Sept 29 at Harlan. The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM and live video-streamed on westeriowatoday.com.
