(Massena) The Massena City Council held a public hearing on Monday night, and one of the items on the docket was to amend the City’s Urban Renewal Area.
City Councilman Doug Venteicher says for the city to spend the T.I.F money from the wind farms, they must list the projects the funds would be used to finance. He says one of the items is a new water treatment plant, which could be five years down the road, and replace all water mains, hookups, and meters throughout the city. Venteicher says the Council is also weighing its options to replace the outdated City Park Shelter. The park shelter project is under discussion; however, if it goes through, the Council would like the construction finished by July 4, 2023.
The Council approved the amendment to the Urban Renewal Area.
