(Corning) It’s Homecoming Week at SW Valley. The Timberwolves host AHSTW on Friday night.
It’s an important Class A, District 7 matchup as both teams are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the league standings. Coach Anthony Donahoo looks for the district to be as competitive as it was last year with a new wave of talent coming through. “We’ve got some amazing athletes in Class A, District 7. I can’t say enough about some of the teams and the work that they are doing. It’s going to be tough every single game. Sidney put up a really good fight against us. We know AHSTW is going to come to town and truthfully like I tell the players every week is a playoff week. If we have big sights set on big things then we have to go 1-0 every week.”
SW Valley has defeated both Central Decatur, 17-11 and Sidney, 35-0. “Very, very happy with the growth that Evan Timmerman has been making at quarterback.” Donahoo says, “Being able to take that next step as a quarterback and as a thrower I think is something that’s made us pretty dynamic.” Donahoo points out, “On the defensive side Colin Jacobs and Robbie Barnes are leading us.”
Evan Timmerman has rushed for a team best 279 yards while also completing 10/16 passes for 119 yards. Isaac Currin has 136 rushing yards. Bradlee Grantz has caught six passes for 81 yards. Colin Jacobs is the leading tackler with 17 stops followed by Ely Rodriguez with 10. Coach Anthony Donahoo refers to AHSTW as ‘Dynamic.’
Donahoo says offensively they’ll need to control the line of scrimmage and win first down to set themselves up with manageable 2nd and 3rd downs.
