(Griswold) A spot in the regional finals is on the line when Griswold travels to #6 SE Warren for a softball matchup on Friday. KSOM will air the 7:00 game with pregame coverage at around 6:50 p.m.
A 4-0 win over Tri-Center on Wednesday moved the Tigers to 20-5 on the season. Abby Gohlinghorst and Joey Reynolds each went 2/3 in Griswold’s regional quarterfinal win. Marissa Askeland had a double and three RBI. Karly Millikan struck out 10 batters in the 2-hit shutout.
The Warhawks are 21-4 following a 12-0 decision against Orient-Macksburg. They posted seven hits and reached safely on a free pass 11 times. Breanna Nolte and Jaycee Neer both hit home runs. The team has now hit 30 home runs on the year, 2nd most in Class 1A. The team didn’t allow a hit or a walk in the last round and struck out six batters.
SE Warren a .397 team average and posts 8.9 runs per game. Alivia Ruble has been their main arm with a 16-2 record and 1.30 ERA. She’s struck out 101 batters. Kaylin Holmes is 5-1 with a 1.75 ERA in 44 innings pitched.
The winner advances to Monday’s regional final round against either #13 Exira-EHK or Fremont-Mills.
