(Area) The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of southwest Iowa from 12:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
A surge of moisture into the state tonight will produce showers and thunderstorms in southwest Iowa. Storm totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected with localized higher amounts over 5 inches in a few areas by Thursday morning. High rainfall rates and amounts may lead to flash flooding, especially in urban areas, low water crossings and small streams and creeks.
Some areas within the flood watch also received very heavy rains last night so soils would already be wet in those areas.
