(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for all western and central Iowa today, and Tuesday from noon to 8:00 p.m. Heat Index values are forecast to reach 105 – degrees today. The high temperature for almost all of southwest Iowa will climb into the upper 90s and close to 100 – degrees tomorrow.
The record high temperature is 111 degrees set back in 1936. The record low is 41-degree set in 1972.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
