(Pacific Junction) One person died, and another suffered injuries in a single-vehicle accident near Pacific Junction in Mills County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened sometime between the late evening hours on Friday or early morning hours on July 2 on 221st Street west of 210th. Authorities say 28-year-old Dane W. Carlson of Plattsmouth, Nebraska died in the crash. Steven S. Elliott, 33, of Plattsmouth, suffered injuries in the accident.
According to State Police, an eastbound 2002 BMW 325 driven by Carlson failed to negotiate a curve, left the road to the right, and entered the ditch, rolling several times. A passerby noticed the vehicle in the ditch at 6:02 a.m. on Saturday.
Carlson was pronounced deceased at the scene. LifeNet 1-1 transported Steven Elliott to Beren Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
The accident is under investigation. The Mills County Sheriff’s Department and Glenwood Fire Department assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
