(NAFB) Congressman Ron Kind of Wisconsin says the lack of competition in the oil industry, coupled with the high prices consumers face today, is even more reason to reduce dependence on oil and natural gas. The Democrat says oil companies, faced with threats of switching to other methods to power vehicles, are taking all the profit they can get…tape
The U.S. hasn’t built a new oil refinery since the 1970s and that’s likely not to change, given the ongoing political environment. Kind, again, says the U.S. needs alternate methods beyond oil and natural gas.
Oil companies, he says, don’t want competition that decreases prices for consumers, because it cuts into their profits.
And, Kind says, there is very little lawmakers can do.
The legislation this week Kind refers to specifically related to year-round E-15 sales. The Biden administration issued a one-year waiver to allow summertime E-15 sales in April. The bill would make year-round E-15 sales permanent.
