(Guthrie Center) ACGC hosts SW Valley in a softball matchup on KSOM Wednesday night.
The Chargers started the year 0-11, but got their first win on Saturday and won again on Monday. Here’s coach Eric Van Meter. “I think the big thing is we are really playing for each other now and are settled into our roles. We’re really young. Sophia Rouse is our only senior on the squad. My whole infield is all sophomores and we have two juniors in the outfield. About game six or seven games in we switched up our infield and went back to where some of these girls played a lot of ball together as 6th and 7th graders. I think we’re settling into those roles.”
SW Valley is a non-conference opponent that they are familiar with. The lost to the Timberwolves by two runs over the weekend. “We lost to them 6-4, it was a good game and we look forward for a rematch.”
Coach Van Meter says his team has been getting a lot more runners on base in their recent games. “Sophie Dorsey has been our leadoff all year. She does a great job with her on base percentage and she reads pitches well. She understands and can communicate well with everybody. Reagan Carney and Mersadez Richter in the 3 and 4 spot have been hot at different times. All the girls are doing a good job.”
Pregame coverage will come on the air at around 6:50 with an approximate 7:00 first pitch.
