(Sidney) The funeral service for Fremont County Deputy Austin “Melvin” Richardson, 37, is today.
Deputy Richardson succumbed to injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash on June 14th.
The Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. at the Sidney High School. Burial will be at the Hamburg Cemetery with Law Enforcement and Fire Department honors.
All funeral traffic is encouraged to enter Sidney High School from the east using Foote St. which turns into Knox Road. As traffic approaches the school, DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officers will direct all vehicles into the rodeo pasture to the north of the high school. From this point, vehicles will be directed to your designated areas. ADA parking will be limited to the north drive of the high school. Overflow ADA parking will be given further directions.
Following the service, the procession will leave Sidney High School and travel west on Knox Road. The procession will then turn south on Bluff Road, entering Hamburg on E Street. It will then travel north on Argyle Street to the Hamburg Cemetery.
Deputy Richardson began his law enforcement career with the Auburn, Nebraska Police Department on December 17, 2007 where he worked for five years. He later began working as a police officer for the City of Sidney, Iowa in June, 2011. He started his career with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department on August 31, 2015. He was a member of the Sidney Fire/Rescue and the Percival Fire/Rescue.
Deputy Richardson is survived by his wife Jennifer Richardson and three daughters Bryxtol, Cheyenne and Everly; his mother, siblings and numerous other family and friends.
