(Boone) Xtream Arena in Coralville will be the location for wrestling’s State Dual Tourney. That was among three key pieces of information released Tuesday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association following their latest Board of Control meeting.
The three year agreement for the new State Dual location begins February 4th, 2023. The Tournament will be held the same weekend of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s inaugural state wrestling tourney.
Changes are being made to the seeding process for basketball. The early release of substate and district pods will be eliminated and coaches will no longer meet to determine seeds. Staff from the Iowa High School Athletic Association will compile and release brackets for the lead-up rounds and state tournament.
State Cross Country will continue to be split over two days. In 2022 Classes 1A and 2A will run on Friday with 3A and 4A on Saturday. The classes will rotate through for at least the next four years. In 2023 Classes 4A and 1A will be on Friday with 2A and 3A on Saturday. 2024 brings 3A and 4A on Friday with 1A and 2A on Saturday.
