(Red Oak) A Red Oak woman faces charges for allegedly abandoning her 41-month-old child.
Red Oak Rescue transported the baby from Zion Recovery to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, where officers identified the baby and the mother. The mother showed up at the hospital two hours later. The woman, identified as 29-year-old Chantel Kaye Sperling, showed signs of impairment. Police administered a breath test on Sperling that registered .251, three times over the legal limit. Red Oak Police learned that the mother left the child at Zion Recovery and never returned.
Officer’s arrested Sperling for abandonment of a dependent person, child endangerment, and public intoxication. Authorities transported Sperling to the Montgomery County Jail and held her on a $10,000 bond.
Red Oak Rescue, Montgomery County Dispatch, Montgomery County ER, and the Department of Human Services assisted the Red Oak Police Department.
In another case, Red Oak Police arrested 18-year-old Jordan Clements of Red Oak on a Fremont County warrant for 3rd-degree sexual abuse. Authorities transported Jordan to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and held him without bond.
Red Oak Police also arrested two people this morning for disorderly conduct. Officers arrested 32-year-old Dylan Thomas Griffeth and 24-year-old Abigail Jean Kates, both from Red Oak, for loud noise in the 300 block of E. Market Streets in Red Oak. Police transported Griffeth and Kates to the Montgomery County Jail and held them on a $300 bond.
