(Griswold) The Griswold girls track team is gaining some momentum.
Tiger coach Rachel Larsen says she’s been impressed by what the team has done so far. “I’m super impressed with what the girls are doing so far this season. We haven’t had a ton of meets. We’ve all been struggling with meets getting cancelled. With the ones we’ve had the girls are competing and they are excited about it. I think that’s the biggest thing with them is I’ve seen the fire in their eyes. I see that they are excited and they are placing in events. We’ve placed fifth at a couple of meets. I feel like they are getting a touch of what it’s like to start competing.”
Griswold has been able to add to their roster even after the season started. Part of the formula has been maintaining a positive attitude. “It’s been hard because of the weather, but just making sure that the girls are a #1 priority. Making sure they are in it together, doing things together and having team meals. They come to practice excited. We talk about good things, positive things. Just making it a positive environment for them. So far they have worked really well together and they come to practice happy. For me, especially as a first year coach, I’m thrilled with everything that they are doing and their attitudes and can’t wait to see what future years hold as well.”
The Griswold girls have two meets on the schedule this week. On Tuesday they’ll be at Audubon and Thursday they are scheduled to host a coed meet.
