(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department is close to the full staff. At Wednesday’s City Council meeting, Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett swore in the newest member of the force Nicolas Wimmer.
Officer Wimmer is from Council Bluffs and a Lewis Central High School graduate. He served four years of active duty in the U.S. Army and four years with the Nebraska National Guard, and ten years with FED EX.
Officer Wimmer is married and has two daughters aged three and six. He told the City Council he looks forward to a long and healthy career in Atlantic.
Chief Devin Hogue had the task of replacing four police officers when he took over on March 31. The Chief has just one more spot to fill.
