(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning tabled action on a request from the Iowa Firearms Coalition that would declare Cass County to be a Second Amendment Sanctuary County.

Supervisor John Hartkopf said some of the language is contradictory.
Citizen Cary Short said he is a gun owner, spent 36 years in military, was a weapons instructor, and is a former member of the NRA. Short said some of the statements in the resolution are false and he feels this resolution is anti-law enforcement.

Supervisor Steve Green said if they were to sign something like this without something that says it excludes somebody that is at least a forcible felon then he feels like they are not doing their due diligence.
In the end, the Supervisors agreed to table any action on a resolution so they can gather more input from local law enforcement and the Iowa Firearms Coalition.
