(Red Oak) On Monday, Red Oak firefighters responded to a garage fire at 6:30 pm at 602 E. Washington.
Fire Chief John Bruce says the first engine arrived at 6:35 pm and reported the eastside of the detached garage fully engulfed in flames. The fire breached a window and spread to the interior of the structure. Firefighters brought the blaze under control at around 6:45 pm and terminated the operation at 7:24 pm.
Gene Vanhoose owns the garage, and the estimated damage to the garage and personal property is yet to be determined. Additionally, the fire damaged some personal property of an adjoining neighbor Travis Sickels.
The incident remains under investigation.
The Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Communications, Red Oak Water Department, and MidAmerican Utilities assisted the Red Oak Fire Department.
