(Des Moines) The potential for severe weather increases across southwest Iowa and the entire state from Tuesday evening into Tuesday night.
Tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds are possible, along with prolonged periods of gusty winds Tuesday through Thursday. The strongest winds will occur on Thursday, especially in northern Iowa.
The chance for severe weather increases after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and may last into the overnight hours with the possibility of golf ball size hail or more significant. Storms may produce wind gusts of 60-70 miles per hour.
The storms will move quickly, and weather conditions may change rapidly and necessitate quick action.
