(Council Bluffs) A Council Bluffs man was arrested in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident on I-29 in February.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says 29-year-old Caleb Jefferson Bartels was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of Homicide by Motor Vehicle While under the Influence, Failure to Maintain Control, and Operation Without a License. Bartels is being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail with a bond of $50,000. His next hearing is scheduled for April 14th.
During the investigation it was found that Bartels was operating a 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle with a passenger, 33-year-old Tomorrow Riley, on I-29 on February 16th. The motorcycle went off the roadway and both were thrown from the motorcycle. Riley succumbed to her injuries. Alcohol and speed were believed to be factors.
