(Glenwood) An Omaha, Nebraska, man faces numerous charges following a pursuit in northern Mills County early this morning.
The Mills County Sheriff’s Office is holding 27-year old Tyler Keith Evans on a $40,000 bond on felony charges, including; felony eluding, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, 1st-degree theft, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, and other misdemeanor offenses. Evans also had several warrants for his arrest out of Virginia, but they were nonextraditable in Iowa.
A Mills County K9 Deputy attempted to stop the 2014 GMC Sierra traveling with no plates early this (Thursday) morning in northern Mills County. Evans took off traveling at 100 miles per hour, avoided “stop sticks” at Highway 92 and Wabash Avenue, drove through a dead-end at Valley View drive, and crashed into a large embankment. Evans fled on foot; Council Bluffs Police Department K9 Rudy apprehended Evans following a brief foot chase, while Officers detained a female passenger inside the crashed vehicle.
Mercy Hospital Medical personnel treated Evans for a hand injury and released him.
The vehicle was stolen from Mills County, and Officers located 28 grams of methamphetamine near the crash site. Officers released the female passenger with no criminal charges.
The Council Bluffs Police Department and their K9, Iowa State Patrol, and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Mills County Sheriff’s Office.
