(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a Tipton woman in a cold case murder.
Fifty-nine-year-old Annette Cahill was found guilty in 2019. WVIK Radio reports attorneys for Cahill had argued more DNA testing should have been done on hair found in 22-year-old Corey Wieneke’s hand. He was found beaten to death in his home near West Liberty in 1992. Cahill is serving a 50-year prison sentence.
Investigators say she told another person that a baseball bat had been used to kill Wieneke – and that fact hadn’t been released.
