Harvey Misenor of Atlantic, IA passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022.
It’s been said that all people die, but not all people live. Harvey William Misenor lived every minute of his 82 years of life to the fullest. Never one to sit back and let life happen, Harvey seized every moment by the horns and never let go. Those who knew him loved his stories, his adventurous spirit, and his constant willingness to try something new. Harvey was an excellent cook who every year turned his wife Nancy’s garden into a menu that would last all four seasons. Harvey didn’t like to sit still either, he and Nancy moved a total of 11 times, across seven states. He was a voracious reader who loved humor and history. Taking a helicopter ride down into the Grand Canyon, fishing for halibut off the coast of Alaska, and taking self-guided lighthouse tours throughout New England with Nancy were some of the ways Harvey made his own history. Harv’s booming voice, mischievous sense of humor, and selfless love for his family and friends will live on forever in those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Harvey leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy, his wife of 63 years, and his three daughters Nancy (Tim) Walsh, Lynn Nolen, and Tamara (Shaun) McMahon. He also leaves behind a brother, James Misenor, nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Nellie Misenor, his son, Mark Misenor, his daughter, Brenda Misenor, his son-in-law, Brian Nolen, and his brother, Leonard Misenor.
The family will host a time of remembrance for Harvey from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Elks Lodge #0445, 411 Walnut Street in Atlantic. A private family burial will take place in Kansas City.
