(Audubon) Audubon seniors Aleah Hermansen and Jaci Christensen have had a prolific run with the Wheelers and now their final playoff push is here. Audubon begins regional tournament play Thursday against Riverside
We’ll have the game on KSOM with pregame at around 6:50. Audubon coach Darran Miller is very complimentary of Riverside. “They have improved throughout the whole year. Give credit to coach Mitch Rice there with what he’s done and credit to the girls. At this point in the season they are getting more confident. Records don’t mean anything, past games don’t mean anything, and you have to come out ready to play. They’ve done a nice job of growing as a team and it’s hats off to what he has done down there. We have to be ready and can’t take anybody for granted.”
The Wheelers are entering the postseason on a high note with a 70-46 win over IKM-Manning on Tuesday. “I think offensively we played really well. We shared the basketball really well. We made the extra pass to the open person and we had girls shooting with confidence. We had good inside out action. Jaci was scoring inside and we were able to pass it out when she was getting double teamed. Defensively we did a good job with limiting them to one shot. Overall I thought we played really well.”
Audubon is heavily led by two seniors with Aleah Hermansen and Jaci Christensen. Given their capabilities the Wheelers have seen a lot of different schemes from opposing defenses. “We have seen everything. You name it, we’ve seen it.” Miller says, “We are well prepared for whatever gets thrown at us.”
Hermansen had a near triple double on Tuesday with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. During their four years Audubon has gone 54-38. Hermansen is the program’s all time leading scorer with 1,488 points. She also has 563 rebounds and 263 assists. Christensen is the program’s all time leading rebounder with 888. She’s scored 1,076 points.
