(Anita) Cass County Chief Deputy Sheriff Jon Westering says a train versus semi accident temporarily shut down Linn Street and Highway 148 in Anita. Highway 148 is now open to traffic.
Westering tells KSOM/KS95 News the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. on Linn Street in Anita. He says a northbound semi on Linn Street loaded with soybeans from the United Farmers’ Cooperative crossed the railroad tracks and was struck by an eastbound Iowa Interstate Railroad Train.
Westering says the lone occupant in the semi and two occupants in the Train’s engine were not hurt.
The accident disabled the Train’s engine and is awaiting a replacement engine.
