(Anita) Coming up on KSOM tomorrow night it’ll be a Rolling Valley Conference doubleheader between #14 CAM and #3 Exira-EHK. Coverage starts at 5:45 p.m.
CAM coach Joe Wollum says his team got off to a slow start, but has shown improvement over the first four games. They’ve been getting better on offense and becoming more active on defense. Friday night they’ll face a talented Exira-EHK squad that has won 42 straight regular season games. “They have everybody back basically from a team that was in the semifinals a year ago so a loaded team. They have some great players and obviously they are well coached as well.”
CAM returns the bulk of their personnel as well from a team that was in the regional finals, but the Cougars are adjusting to some new roles. CAM is 4-1 with a 55-48 loss to Woodbine. “We are getting there. One of the parts we are lacking most is that floor general out there that will get us to what we need to be doing at all times. We are starting to see a couple of seniors step up and give us that leadership. Once we get that going I think we’ll be in great shape.”
Mallory Behnken is averaging teams bests in scoring and rebounding at 14 points and 9 rebounds per game. Eva Steffensen boasts a stat line of 11.2 points, 3.8 rebound, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. Reese Snyder, Meredith Rich, Kiera Nichols, and Naomi Grubbs are all averaging at least five points per game for the Cougars.
