(Adel) Three players scored in double figures to lead ADM past Atlantic 59-47 in a non-conference boys basketball game on Saturday at Adel.
Brevin Doll came off the bench and scored 18-points, Adam Bryte, 14, and Sam HIlas added 13 for ADM. Colton Rasmussen and Carter Pellett led Atlantic with 12-points, and Dayton Templeton added 11.
ADM connected on nine of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.
The game developed into a plethora of short runs through the first three quarters. The Tigers held a 16-14 edge in the first stanza behind three-point baskets from the hands of Sam HIas, Adam Bryte, and Bennett Holmberg. Dayton Templeton carried the Trojan offense in the first quarter with nine points.
Both squads each hit 15-points in the second quarter, and the Tigers held a 31-29 lead at the break. Doll willed the Tigers offensively with eight second-quarter points. Atlantic hit two three-point shots and sank six-of-seven free-throws to keep pace. Ethan Sturm and Pellett knocked down the long-range buckets.
ADM held double-digit leads several times throughout the contest, but each time the Trojans battled back within a couple of points but couldn’t gain a scoring advantage in the second half.
Brevin Doll capped off his 18-points with four-for-four free shooting down the stretch pushing the home team to a double-digit lead late in the contest to put the contest on ice.
Bennett Holmberg scored eight points, Vince Bennetti, 6, and Matt Dufoe added two points to balance out the Tiger score sheet.
For Atlantic, Ethan Sturm scored seven points, Garrett McLaren, and Lane Nelson each scored three points.
Atlantic falls to 0-2 on the season. ADM is now 1-2.
