(Elk Horn) Exira-EHK picked up a 73-30 girls basketball win over Glidden-Ralston on Friday and the Spartan boys downed the Wildcats 50-30.
The girls contest saw Exira-EHK jump out to a 12-2 lead in the early going. Defensive pressure lead to Glidden-Ralston turnovers and transition points for the Spartans.
Macy Emgarten led the way with a 23 point night. She hit four threes in the first half. Shay Burmeister knocked in 15 points and Quinn Grubbs scored 12.
The Spartans led 24-8 after one quarter and pushed the edge to 48-16 by half. Glidden-Ralston was led by 13 points from Paige Klocke. 16 of their 30 points came at the free-throw line. They made three field goals in each half.

In the boys contest Exira-EHK rode a 15-0 first half run to take control. The Spartans score the final 13 points of the first quarter and got the first basket of the second quarter. Coach Doug Newton says defense was the difference in that stretch.
Jackson Radcliff and Cash Emgarten each scored 14 points in the win. Glidden-Ralston’s leading scorers were Ethan Olberding and Caden Smith with seven points each. The Spartans led 29-14 at half and 39-24 going into the fourth. Glidden-Ralston never got back within single digits.
Next week Exira-EHK’s boys and girls teams will oppose Ar-We-Va on Tuesday and CAM on Friday.
