(Atlantic) Closing arguments were held in the State of Iowa versus Alison Dorsey trial this morning.
Prosecuting Attorney Monty Platz stated that shaken baby is real and Luka’s body has a story of what happened to him.
Platz said the only medical fact that cannot be answered is who was alone with Luka Hodges during the 10:00 hour on October 7, 2019.
Platz contends that Alison Dorsey put Luka Hodges in the MamaRoo with violence.
Defense Attorney Deshawne Bird-Sell stated that there is not one shred of evidence that Luka was injured by Ali.
Bird-Sell noted that the State Medical Examiner said the manner of death was undetermined.
Bird-Sell said if the state claims these injuries were caused by violent shaking with a slam, how do you not leave an imprint bruise, scratch marks or other marks? She said the reason that is preposterous is because the injury is four days old.
Alison Dorsey has been charged with Murder in the 1st Degree and Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. Judge Amy Zacharias spent around 25 minutes going over the jury instructions and what must be considered when finding the defendant guilty on the current charges or lesser charges, or finding the defendant not guilty.
Jury began deliberating around 1:00 p.m.
